Little Miss Inquisitive

It's always amazing to see how much a child grows in such a short time.  When I first met Little Miss Inquisitive, she was just really tiny...I think less than 2 months.  And now she's almost ready to walk.  It was fun to see images of her previous sessions on the wall at their house!

Mr. Handsome

Is he not the cutest little guy you've ever seen?  Of course, I think the studio floors look really nice, too, but I have to say that Mr. R is very cute, too!!

I met Tanya Frazier from Graceful Designs (her e-mail is alonzaf@aol.com or you can reach her by phone at 757.813.0671.  She does floral designs and jewelry and does wedding planning in the Hampton Roads area and is one of the most gracious people that I have ever met!  Here are a few of her images...

Engagement Gallery Night - November 8, 2008

We exhibited at the Kiln Creek Golf Club's Bridal Fair today and kicked off our first Engagement Gallery.  What is an Engagement Gallery, you ask?  Well.....it's going to be a lot of fun!  From now until November 1, we are offering complimentary engagement sessions to all engaged couples (on location or in studio) and will give each couple one 20 inch print.  It could be a 20x20 image or a 8x20 storyboard panel image...   No limits on creativity!  Is there a catch, you ask?  Only two.  You should not have already booked your wedding photographer and you must really be engaged.

The sessions usually last about an hour and I recommend going to a location that means something to you or that you just really like.  I haven't had a groom say the engagement session was painful yet so I'll try my best to keep that on my record!  If you would like to buy additional images or products (Save the Date cards, Christmas cards, guest book, etc.) other than the complimentary engagement image, you can certainly do so, but will be under no obligation at all.  I've always liked Saturn cars because of their no-hassle policy.  So I guess we're the Saturn photography counterpart.

On Saturday, November 8, from 7:00PM - 9:00 PM, we'll host a reception at our Toano studio (with food of course!) and images from all the couples will be displayed throughout our 2500 square foot studio that used to be an old farmhouse.  In fact, it's the oldest surviving house in Toano so it has a lot of character in it.  You can take your image home that night.  You can use it as a signature board image or display it at your wedding or simply have it at your house.  Who knows...maybe you'll give it as a Christmas gift to your parents and have one gift crossed off your list early!

Why are we crazy enough to be doing this?  It's simple.  Even though my husband and I have been married for 11 years, I remember how overwhelming bridal fairs were.  We're giving you a chance to try us out to see if our personalities and photography style match what you're looking for in a wedding photographer before you sign a contract.

You can call us at 757.849.8566 or e-mail jodi@capturethismoment.com to book a session.

Congratulations and we look forward to meeting you soon!

(P.S.  I forgot to take a picture of our own booth, but will post more images of the show later.  But look at the Mary Englebreit cake above...  This cake brings a smile to my face every time I see it.  Our booth was right across from it and the cakes are as good as they look.  (To get in touch with Alice Cooke, the cake designer, go to her website at www.cakesbyalice.net.)

Meet Sara!

We just brought Sara Goggin on board to help with marketing and image presentations in the studio after your photography session.  As I photograph families mainly on the weekends when families are together, I am away from my family during that time.  And as most people will want to see their images together in the evenings or weekends, I will be away from my family double time.  Okay...so the youngest 2 camp out at the studio with us during the day unless I have a session, but I sort of miss our school aged girls and want to spend time with them on the weekends instead of being the Invisible Mum.  I know you'll like Sara as you get to meet her!!  Please bear with us as we're all in this exciting change together.  Sara just recently graduated from William & Mary with a degree in Marketing so hopefully it will be fun for her.  We'll be doing a photography session with her and her husband, Kyle, so check back next week to "meet" them!  And who knows...you may already know her since she grew up here in Williamsburg!

Miller & Pisoni Families

It was such a pleasure photographing the Pisoni and Miller families in San Diego last month.  It felt good to give some of my favorite kids a hug in person since we're so far away!!

The Webb Family

I have never been told to go home by someone I was photographing...until I went to San Diego in August.  And I don't think he's even 2 yet!  But Mr. G, what you didn't realize was that I didn't fly to San Diego to leave without photographing you!  I still think you're cute, though!  I've also never had someone unwilling to part with a skateboard...especially an older brother's skateboard.  I know you'll enjoy some of these shots...

Studio Hours

We are usually in the studio from 10:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. and by appointment.  Please call before stopping by because we might be at an on location shoot or running errands and would hate to miss you!

I am still photographing and you can preview your images outside of those times, but in case you drop by, a warm body is usually here during those hours.

Anderson/Boykin Senior Portraits

We played tag team through Balboa Park in San Diego for Katie and Justin's senior portrait sessions.  I've done more seniors this year than I have in the past and have enjoyed the difference between young children and nearly adults.  For instance, most toddlers aren't allowed to have "have at it" in a fountain like this!  Katie and Justin...watching you guys interact reminded me so much of Mike and myself.  And even though we have 4 kids, it seems like it was just yesterday that we were dating.  Enjoy these years and keep me posted on college plans!

Serrano Family

You would never know it by these images, but it took me 4 years to get a smile from Alyssa.  She's now almost 7 and her mom stuck with me through my early photography years.  Alyssa, you know you're beautiful!!
